Friday night, I went to bed after midnight. Not so bad. Woke up around 8 or 9. Got tired around 2 in the afternoon, as per usual. I mean to say, if I could, I'd take a 2-4pm nap every day of the week. So I took that nap on Saturday. Woke up sometime between 6-7pm. Stayed up until about 1pm on Sunday. Went to sleep at that time and woke up at 6pm. Went to sleep by 11 Sunday night, woke up on time for work with little problem (which is unusual for sleepyhead, non-morningperson me) and was not really tired at all during the day. Came home, didn't get to sleep until about 2AM this morning (at around 11:00 I had an "oh snap, I never had dinner" moment and opted for food rather than sleep). So natch, I was zombified today. I'm headed to bed now, but the answer seems clear to me. I need like 4-6 hours of sleep every 18 hours. Some day, I'll have a job where I can set my own schedule, nap in the middle of the day, stay up til 4AM, whatever. Because it's not like I'm unproductive during that time. I spent most of this weekend reading about the Standard Model of quantum physics and string theory. Yes, this is what I do for fun. I work in a BANK, remember? Exotic geometries get me through the day.
A number of people have suggested sleep medication, but really, I don't think that's it. My body doesn't want to do the "sleep 8, wake 16... EFD for eternity" thing. It wants free run.
