You can wait and wait and it will never happen. That same grain will never fall unless you make it, and it will never fall the same way twice. The conscious decision must be made to lift the hourglass and disturb the pristine sand. Your hand must turn it, or the sand will sit there forever. It will harden over time into glass; a perfect reflection of your life.
