Black in Africa

Ok, at first this episode of Static Shock seemed kind of lame. The whole 'back to Africa'/African pride thing is very much played out, however valid the idea is. In retrospect, I suppose it was played alright, since Virgil's dad was really the one who was into the whole thing and it was his generation that lived through the movement. However, then they pulled out Anansi and holy moly is he like the coolest hero ever. He's got Spider-man's agility and sticking power, Zorro's outfit and the Shadow's illusion powers. I mean, yeah, I frickin love Spiders and Mr. Nancy's one of the coolest tricksters ever, but don't let that fool you. Biased or none, he was one bad ass. For Joe's research, he was voiced by the guy who does the Martian Manhunter on Justice League; the same guy who played the M.A.N.T.I.S. and John Parker.

Oh and by the way APRIL O'NEIL IN A BELLY SHIRT OH DEAR GOD NO. What's next, Irma in fishnets? For a society that supposedly hates child molestors, we sure ain't doin much to keep our kids away from hootchie culture.
