This is not my beautiful icon.

Accursed hair band revival

Now I have the nigh irrepressible urge to listen to Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart" and the even more irrepressible urge to sing it. No, wait, definitely irrepressible.

OH

      a dating story

I want to marry into a fireworks dynasty.

That said, I want to record a tale as it was told in the episode of Northern Exposure that was just on.

The backstory is this: Ed, the local shaman in training, gets struck by lightning. He's consumed by the incident. Why did it happen? He hears opposing viewpoints: the universe is a wild and violent place. Kill or be killed; the Calvinist approach. Or was he spared by a benevolent Gaia-style nature? Shown just how precious life was by facing death...

He talks to Marilyn, who tells him a story.

    This is that story.

Once upon a time, there was a great warrior who had a beautiful and strong horse. The people saw his horse, and said he was blessed. The warrior simply shrugged, and said, "Maybe."

One day, however, the horse ran off. On that day, the people said that the warrior was cursed. The warrior simply shrugged, and said, "Maybe." When the horse returned days later followed by a train of beautiful ponies, the people said that the warrior was blessed. The warrior simply shrugged, and said, "Maybe."

One day, the warrior's eldest son was thrown from one of the ponies, and broke his leg. The people said that the warrior was cursed. The warrior simply shrugged, and said, "Maybe." The next day, the chief led an attack against a neighboring tribe. Many young men were slaughtered. Because of his broken leg, the warrior's son stayed home, and was spared. The people said that he was blessed. The warrior simply shrugged, and said, "Maybe."

Later in the episode, there was a fireworks display. Ruth Anne remarked that it would be a shame if the sparks set something on fire. Ed simply shrugged, and said, "Maybe."

I think that this is a very accurate description of my outlook. I used to think I was apathetic. But no... it's not that at all.
